For just over a decade, Washington State has allowed the use of medical marijuana, but some say we should go farther How do you think we should regulate marijuana? Signatures are currently being collected for a possible ballot initiative in the fall that would remove criminal penalties from the adult possession, cultivation and use - medical or otherwise - of marijuana. Will you sign it? Last month, there was a shooting incident at home of a medical grower. Do you think there are public safety concerns associated with decriminalizing or legalizing marijuana? Are these offset by the lowered costs from reduced enforcement and potential new money from tax collections?
Scheduled participants include the ACLU, Washington state lawmakers, law enforcement officials, and chemical dependency professionals. Broadcast live and online at the Seattle Channel, this 90-minute interactive forum will lay out the history of marijuana policy in our nation and state, explore the potential revenue stream and costs associated with policy changes, discuss the potential for addiction, and the implications on our neighborhoods. How do you feel about this issue? C.R. Douglas will moderate the conversation “in the round” to offer you a chance to share your opinions and suggestions, and electronic polling during the event will gauge responses from both the live and online audiences.
