Like the country as a whole, Washington state’s high school graduates will face harsh realities without the skills necessary to succeed in college, the workplace or life.  It is estimated that in the next decade, nearly 80 percent of job openings in the U.S. will require some education beyond the high school level.  In addition, while just over half of Americans have college experience, they make up the vast majority of the leaders in their communities. What are we doing to ensure that the pathways from high school to post-secondary education better prepare students to succeed in college, career and beyond? What opportunities for meaningful action exist to address the gaps in skills and abilities necessary for students to succeed?  How can the funding paradigm for higher education be improved to help advance the quality of our education system and our state’s overall economic competitiveness?  Join us to hear from education advocates in Washington State on these critical issues and bring your own questions to the discussion!
