The Northwest region is often referred to as the compassion corridor. As revealed in the 2010 Greater Seattle Civic Health Index, 60.3% of residents donated $25 or more in money, assets, or property – 10% higher than the national average. Our region is home to early pioneers in corporate citizenship, employee giving and employer match programs that have been replicated world wide. Family foundations large and small have improved communities locally and globally. Innovative pooled giving makes it possible for people of all incomes to be philanthropic.
What and who helped lay the foundation for this inspiring culture of philanthropy? How has this changed our region, and what new innovations does our philanthropic community have in store? How can we ensure our culture of giving remains strong?
