Washington continues to be a national leader as one of only three states beginning to implement universal coverage for all children. But with a state budget deficit that ranges in the billions, the Governor and Legislature's programs designed to insure all children by 2010 and all residents by 2012 are in danger of being eliminated, at least in the short term. Given the economic outlook, the number of uninsured and underinsured will only continue to grow. Does a possible federal stimulus package provide hope to fill in the gaps in our state budget? Is Washington state well positioned to take full advantage of possible reforms happening at the federal level? Join us with your own questions as part of this critical national conversation.

Thanks to our:

Event Chairs: Karen Merrikin and Kerri Petrin.

Forum sponsors:

Co-presenting organizations: Children's Alliance, Leadership Eastside, Leadership Tomorrow, Puget Sound Blood Center, University of Washington School of Public Health, Washington Policy Center, Washington State Hospital Association, Washington State Medical Association and YWCA of Seattle/King/Snohomish County.
