Patty Stonesifer

Patty Stonesifer came to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 1997 after a successful two-decade career in technology. Well before age forty, she became the highest-ranking female executive at Microsoft serving numerous leadership roles during her eight-year tenure. At the helm of the Gates Foundation, she sets strategic priorities, monitors results, and facilitates relationships with key partners. Ms. Stonesifer is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. She serves on the boards of the Smithsonian Institution, DATA/ONE (Debt AIDS Trade Africa), and Amazon.com. She is also an active community volunteer, donating both her time and resources to several regional nonprofit organizations.
