What can you look forward to at CityClub's 2009 Anniversary Gala "Building Community Through Sport"?
In 2007, our Gala committee chair called us at 2:00 p.m. the day before the big event and said she'd had a great idea that involved a rubber salmon - and could we get a rubber salmon and bring it the next morning? Sure enough, I took off as early as I could and went to Archie McPhee, where they had not one but TWO rubber salmon to choose from. (As one had the word "BALLARD" emblazoned across the side, we opted for the other.)
In 2008, we thought, wouldn't it be great if we could give everyone chocolate? There are very few people who don't enjoy (or can't eat) chocolate. Sure enough, after negotiatons, we were the generous recipients of about 400 Theo Chocolate bars (four flavors, 100 each), which we wrapped in an inspirational quote and pre-set at each seat. Although we did end up with quite a few leftover chocolate bars, they were still a hit. (Although I still love Theo chocolate, I may never eat another coconut curry Theo bar as long as I live.)
This year, our big ideas are coming together beautifully:

Autographed Team Balls
Autographed team balls from the Sounders and the Seahawks will be available for silent auction at each gala table. Plan to bring home a treasure for that special fan in your household!

Kevin Calabro
The Voice of the Sounders will be the celebrity emcee of our pre-gala VIP reception featuring players, current and former owners, sponsors and special guests. With an advance gift of $300, you, too, can rub elbows with the Who’s Who of Seattle Sports, take home themed gifts, and enjoy preferred gala seating. To reserve your spot VIP spot, click here to register now!

Dave Niehaus: “Get out the rye bread and mustard, Grandma, it is grand salami time!”

Dave Ross - Supporting CityClub
We’re thrilled that KIRO talk show host and CBS commentator Dave Ross, one of our favorite forum emcees, will step up to the plate for us this year. Dave knows well CityClub’s role in developing a lively and timely civic agenda, providing leader access and accountability and building community.
