History of the Community Matters Campaign

The 2010 Community Matters Campaign has drawn to a successful close. Stay tuned to SeattleCityClub.org for details about CMC 2011, coming in Fall.

The Community Matters Campaign (formerly knows as Civic Participation Month) has been a pivot of CityClub’s annual programming since 2001. The campaign historically has started on the United Way’s Day of Caring and ended on Election Day.  The campaign promotes personal engagement and organizational collaboration across a full spectrum of civic activity including voter preparation, volunteerism, philanthropy, public dialogue, deliberation and community building.  In 2008, the Campaign’s focus was Re-imagining Civic Engagement and involved  over 1,100 King County residents and 25 organizations and community groups. In 2009, the theme was Education and Economic Opportunity and involved over 7,200 individuals, organizations and community groups. This year, we are excited to announce that our theme is Public Trust and we look forward to welcoming even more community voices to participate.
